Career Prospects Program

Career prospect program.jpeg

Students who come from low-income areas often find themselves surrounded by peers who work in low-income jobs. This can make it difficult for them to envision a future in a high-paying career. Fortunately, a video series featuring individuals who share similar race and backgrounds can be a source of inspiration. This video series provides students with an inside look into different careers, and can help alleviate any doubts or uncertainties they may have about pursuing a specific career. By showcasing a variety of roles, this series can also introduce students to careers they may have never considered before, allowing them to recognize their true potential and explore their own talents.

College Experience Program

For students living in low-income neighborhoods, attending college can seem like an unattainable goal. As many of these students would be the first in their families to pursue higher education, it can be a daunting prospect. However, visiting a college campus can be a game-changer. It can eliminate fear and uncertainty, and allow students to envision a bright future for themselves. Faculty who attend our event tell us their favorite part of the visit is hearing students dream about the future. This is something that they rarely hear them talk about.

Students need to be financially literate because it equips them with essential life skills to make informed and responsible financial decisions. Financial literacy empowers individuals to manage their personal finances effectively, save and invest wisely, and avoid common pitfalls like debt and overspending. It also enables them to understand the broader economic context and how their financial choices impact their future, from college loans to retirement planning. In an increasingly complex and interconnected world, financial literacy is crucial for ensuring a secure and prosperous future, promoting economic stability, and reducing financial stress among students and young adults.
